Singing and speaking are about much more than vocal technique and physiology. Unresolved fears, conflicting and unaddressed emotions, and incorrect belief systems can cause as many seemingly vocal issues as the voice itself.

It is therefore imperative to recognize, honor, and address these powerful relationships when developing a voice. Doing so ensures that mental and vocal tensions may be fully resolved, and that growth- both personal and musical- will be integrated and enduring.

This is true for everyone, as indeed, we are all communicators. Whether we express ourselves through song, family, community, creativity, or our professional work, it is the deepest of human desires to clearly, powerfully, and authentically share who we are with those around us... and to be heard.

The journey of finding your voice is therefore a journey of finding yourself. Exploring who it is you are and what it is you want to say- including what has prevented or hindered you from doing so in the past- enables your entire being... voice, mind, body, and spirit... to engage in a song that comes wholly, effortlessly, and authentically from within you.

My experiences and all that I've learned from my own journey and those of my wonderful clients have been captured in my book The Art of Singing: Discovering and Developing Your True Voice, published by Hal Leonard in 2009, as well as my 2012 release Learning to Sing: A Transformative Approach to Vocal Performance and Instruction.

I also write regularly for The Huffington Post and Psychology Today on matters of personal, professional, and creative expression.

I am based in New York City, where I see the majority of my private clients, though I frequently travel to conduct workshops and master classes; Nashville and Los Angeles are two of my more frequent stops.
